BACK ONLINE WITH THE BLOG

For anyone who was following this blog I apologise for the delay.

I was more focused on restoring  than publishing.  I did however

takesome pictures along the way and I will do lots of

before and after comparisons  -  Murray

Getting the gear on the fuselage

Make sure you have all the shims installed (easier to do it

now) to take up the play where the axle shaft goes through the

 pivot on the gear leg

Saves time if you have your shock assemblies rebuilt ahead of

time

Basking in the sunshine

Here is the before photo

The next part is the shock cover and the angled strip it bolts to

 on the front bottom

Here is the before condition  - like alot of parts in this aircraft it

has aquired a fair amount of corrosion

Stripped of the corosion  ready for the acid and alodine

After the alodine it gets the polyfiber 520 primer and the blue

polyurethane

In the previous photo you can see the angled strip - later on

I removed the part and modified it with flush riveted

screw clips ( next 2 pictures) which makes the shock cover

much easier to remove and replace

These covers were originally stapled  on with a heavy metal staple.

They are replicated here with heavy safety wire
